IRM (Intermediate Restorative Material) is a polymer-reinforced zinc oxide–eugenol (ZOE) restorative cement designed for temporary and intermediate restorations. Its reinforced formulation provides improved strength and durability compared to conventional ZOE, allowing it to withstand functional loads for extended periods.
It offers a sedative effect on the pulp due to eugenol, helping reduce sensitivity and promote patient comfort. IRM is commonly used as a temporary filling, base material under non-resin restorations, or for emergency treatments, with a service life of up to one year.
Easy to mix and handle, it provides good sealing ability and antibacterial properties, making it a reliable choice for interim restorative procedures.
