Shofu Hy-Bond Glasionomer Cx Glass Ionomer Luting Cement
Shofu Hy-Bond Glass Ionomer Cement is a type of luting cement used in dentistry for the permanent cementation of metal and porcelain fused to metal crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and orthodontic bands. It is a high-strength, dual-cured glass ionomer cement that is easy to handle and has a working time of 1 minute and a setting time of 3 minutes. The cement is radiopaque, allowing for easy detection on X-rays, and is fluoride-releasing, providing additional protection against tooth decay.
The Hy-Bond cement is designed to bond chemically to the tooth structure and metal, providing a durable, long-lasting seal. It has excellent adhesion to dentin and enamel, and its low solubility ensures a strong bond between the tooth and restoration.
INDICATIONS:
- Permanent cementation of cast metal, porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crown & bridge restorations
- Bonding of metal orthodontic appliances
- Ideal for long PFM bridges
Features:
- Chemical composition: The cement is made from a unique combination of glass powder and a liquid solution of organic acids and water, resulting in a high-strength glass ionomer cement.
- Radiopacity: The cement is radiopaque, allowing for easy detection on X-rays.
- Fluoride release: The cement releases fluoride ions, which can help to prevent tooth decay and improve overall oral health.
- Adhesion: The cement is designed to bond chemically to the tooth structure and metal, providing a strong and durable seal.
- Low solubility: The cement has low solubility, ensuring a strong bond between the tooth and the restoration.
- Working time: The cement has a working time of 1 minute and a setting time of 3 minutes, allowing for efficient and timely completion of restorative procedures.
Key Specifications:
Cleaning of Abutment Tooth:
- Thoroughly remove any temporary material and rinse with water. Dry the area following standard procedures.
Isolation:
- Use a rubber dam or similar method to isolate the treatment area.
Try-in and Preparation of Restoration:
- Try-in the restoration to confirm fit and adjust occlusion as needed.
- Clean the adhesive surface of the restoration.
Pulp Protection (if necessary):
- If the restoration is close to the pulp, apply a pulp protection material like calcium hydroxide.
Dispensing of Powder and Liquid:
- Dispense 1 scoop of Powder and 2 drops of Liquid separately.
- Use the provided measuring scoop and level off the powder for accuracy.
- Invert the liquid bottle before use to dispense bubble-free liquid. Avoid contact between the nozzle tip and the mixing pad.
- Close both bottle caps tightly after each use to prevent moisture contamination.
Mixing:
- Mix the Powder and Liquid evenly with a plastic spatula within 30 seconds.
- The working time is approximately 2 minutes from the start of mixing.
- The setting time at 37°C is approximately 2 minutes and 30 seconds after seating the restoration.
Placement of Restoration:
- Apply the mixed cement evenly on the restoration surface to be cemented.
- Seat the restoration onto the abutment tooth with moderate pressure.
- Hold it in place until the cement sets, which is about 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Removal of Excess Cement:
- Once the cement exhibits a rubbery consistency (about 1-2 minutes after placement), remove excess cement with an instrument
